Divinely Inspired Portraits | Capturing the Essence of a Reiki Healer and Shamanic Practitioner
One of the things I love most about creating portraits for healers, teachers, and spiritual practitioners is the opportunity to tell a deeper story—one that reflects not only who someone is, but the work they are here to do in the world. Recently, I had the joy of welcoming Gwen, from Sacred Wings Healing, into my studio who is both a Reiki healer and Shamanic medicine practitioner, and together we created a series of artistic portraits that capture the essence of her healing practice.
What made this session especially meaningful is that the vision for it began long before she ever stepped into the studio.
Creating the Vision Together
Our creative process started with our very first conversation about working together. We spoke about her path as a healer, the energy she brings to her clients, and the elements of her work she wanted to visually express.
From there, we began shaping the vision for the session—imagining the kinds of images that would feel authentic to her practice. We discussed symbolism, energy, and how to capture both the grounded and ethereal aspects of her work.
As we refined the concept, we also carefully chose wardrobe pieces that would support the story we were telling. The goal was to create imagery that felt intentional, aligned, and deeply reflective of who she is and what she offers to the people she serves.
By the time session day arrived, we weren’t just “taking photos.” We were bringing a thoughtfully designed vision to life.
Capturing the Flow of Reiki Energy
One part of the session focused on documenting the practice of Reiki itself. We created images of her providing Reiki to a client, gently placing her hands and holding space in the calm, focused way that energy healers do. These portraits feel soft, peaceful, and intimate—capturing the compassion and presence she brings into every healing session.
We also created more artistic images that symbolize the flow of Reiki energy. Through thoughtful lighting and composition, we explored ways to visually represent the invisible aspects of energy work. The result is a collection of portraits that feel both grounded and luminous—reflecting the quiet power of Reiki.
Honoring the Path of Shamanic Medicine
Another part of the session highlighted her work as a Shamanic medicine practitioner. She brought pieces from her personal Shamanic toolkit—objects that carry deep meaning within her spiritual practice.
These sacred tools represent connection, ceremony, and the wisdom traditions that guide her healing work. Photographing her with these items created powerful imagery that speaks to the depth of her path and the reverence she holds for the traditions she works within.
The portraits feel strong, intentional, and connected to something ancient and sacred.
Portraits That Reflect the Soul of the Work
Sessions like this go far beyond traditional headshots. They are about creating imagery that tells a story—portraits that communicate the energy, purpose, and heart behind someone’s work.
Throughout the session we explored movement, stillness, symbolism, and emotion. The studio felt peaceful, creative, and full of inspiration as we brought the vision we had built together into reality.
By the end of the session, we had created a beautiful gallery of portraits that reflect her warmth, wisdom, and spiritual presence.
Portraits for Healers and Soul-Led Practitioners
Working with healers, yoga teachers, coaches, and spiritual practitioners is something I deeply love. These sessions are an opportunity to create imagery that feels aligned with your purpose and the way you show up in the world.
Your work is meaningful, and the images representing it should be meaningful too.
If you are a Reiki practitioner, healer, yoga teacher, or spiritual guide and you’d like portraits that capture the heart and essence of your work, I would love to collaborate with you. Together we can design a session that feels intentional, artistic, and completely true to you. ✨
A Special Newborn Session | Family, Service, and the Gift of Being Present
Sometimes life gently reminds us to slow down and be present where we’re needed most. Over the past couple of months, I stepped away from work unexpectedly to help with a few family health matters. It wasn’t something I had planned, but it was something that mattered deeply.
One of the things I’m most grateful for in running my own photography business is the flexibility it gives me to be there for the people I love when they need me. Being able to pause work and focus on family is a gift I never take for granted.
During that time, I also had the opportunity to photograph a very special newborn session—one that felt close to my heart.
Welcoming a New Baby Boy
My cousin and his wonderful family recently welcomed their newest little one, a beautiful baby boy. After raising two sweet daughters, their family is now joyfully complete with the addition of a little brother.
Watching their girls meet their baby brother and seeing the love already surrounding him was incredibly touching. Moments like these are such a reminder of how quickly families grow and change, and how meaningful it is to capture these seasons while they’re still new.
Honoring a Father’s Service
My cousin is a firefighter, a career built on courage, service, and dedication to the community. Because of that, we created a few portraits that felt especially meaningful.
We photographed the baby with his father’s firefighter helmet, jacket, and radio—symbols of a profession that represents both protection and sacrifice. These images carry a deeper story: the love of a father for his family and the commitment he makes every day to serve others.
Portraits like these become more than photographs. They become part of a family’s legacy.
The Beauty of Capturing Family Stories
Sessions like this are always a reminder of why I love what I do. Photography isn’t just about documenting what people look like—it’s about preserving the moments that shape their story.
This session held so many layers: a growing family, the pride of two big sisters, the arrival of a new baby boy, and the quiet strength of a father who serves his community.
It was such a joy and honor to capture this chapter in their lives.
Grateful to Be Back Behind the Camera
After stepping away for a short time, being back behind the camera and documenting moments like this feels especially meaningful. Family has always been at the heart of my work, and this session was a beautiful reminder of that.
These are the moments that matter most—the ones we’ll look back on years from now and remember exactly how it felt.
If you’re welcoming a new baby and would like to create meaningful newborn portraits that tell your family’s story, I’d love to connect and help capture this beautiful season of life. 📸💛
Fall Family Portraits in the Mountains of Conifer, Colorado
Sometimes portrait sessions remind us that life—like the Colorado weather—doesn’t always go according to plan, but beauty always finds its way in. This recent family portrait session in Conifer, Colorado was the perfect example.
We started the day under gray skies with the forecast calling for rain. I kept checking the horizon, wondering if we’d have to reschedule. But as the afternoon unfolded, the clouds began to lift, and what could have been a gloomy day turned into a golden, peaceful evening in the mountains.

A Family of Four, Full of Love
This family of four brought so much light to the session. Mom and Dad arrived with their sweet 2-year-old boy and their brand-new 2-month-old baby, ready to soak in the beauty of the mountains together.
The toddler, curious and playful, kept everyone smiling with his energy, while the littlest one was snug in his parents’ arms—calm, content, and along for the ride. Watching them together reminded me of how quickly these early years fly by, and how important it is to capture each stage along the way.
When the Aspens Aren’t What We Expect
Like many families in the fall, this family was hoping for the golden glow of aspen trees to frame their portraits. We had selected a beautiful location with clusters of aspens that I had scouted out, but when we arrived the day of the session, we discovered that the leaves had already fallen.
While the aspens weren’t shining in their usual fall brilliance, the mountains had other gifts to offer. We shifted focus, and headed over to the peaceful pond with stunning mountain views to use as our backdrop. The still water reflected the family beautifully, and the forested hills reminded us of Colorado’s timeless beauty.
Portraits That Tell Their Story
We captured the full family together, snuggled close against the mountain backdrop, as well as sweet individual moments:
Mom cradling her newborn with soft light on their faces
Dad chasing their toddler near the pond
The brothers together—tiny and new, already beginning a lifelong bond
Each image felt like a story in itself—one of love, resilience, and savoring a fleeting season of life.
Why Conifer Is Perfect for Family Portraits
Nestled just outside of Denver, Conifer, Colorado is one of my favorite spots for family photography. Even when nature surprises us with weather or early leaf changes, there are endless backdrops—mountain ridges, hidden ponds, wide meadows—that give each session a timeless Colorado feel.

Newborn Portraits in Highlands Ranch | A Family of Seven Children
Every newborn session is special, but when a new baby arrives in a family of seven children, the love and excitement in the room is multiplied in the most beautiful way. Recently, I had the joy of welcoming this incredible family into my Highlands Ranch home studio for their newborn session. With six older siblings eager to celebrate their new brother or sister, the energy was both lively and heartwarming.

Recently, I had the joy of welcoming this incredible family into my Highlands Ranch home studio for their newborn session. With six older siblings eager to celebrate their new brother or sister, the energy was tender and heartwarming. This was the first time the family had ever had newborn portraits taken, so it was extra special.
A Full House of Love
There’s something magical about photographing a large family. The dynamics, the laughter, the curiosity of the younger kids, and the tenderness of the older ones—it all weaves together into portraits that are layered with meaning. This family was no exception. Each child brought their own personality into the session, making it a true celebration of love, joy, and togetherness.
The older siblings were so sweet and protective, while the little ones were fascinated by their brand-new sibling. Watching them gather close for portraits, you could feel how cherished this new baby already is.
In the Studio
My home studio in Highlands Ranch was the perfect space for this busy session. We captured a mix of images, including:
Sweet swaddled portraits of the newborn alone
Group shots of all seven siblings together (a rare and treasured image for mom and dad!)
Tender family portraits with everyone snuggled in close
Why Newborn Portraits Matter for Large Families
For parents of big families, a newborn session is more than just about the baby—it’s about honoring the whole family as it grows and shifts with each new arrival. These portraits become part of the family’s legacy, capturing not just how the children look in this season, but also the unique way they interact with and love one another.
A Session to Remember
This newborn session was such a joyful reminder of how much beauty exists in the chaos of a big family. Seven children may mean extra giggles, wiggles, and a little unpredictability, but it also means seven times the love, seven times the laughter, and seven times the memories captured.

Newborn Portraits at 7 Weeks | A Tender Session in My Highlands Ranch Studio
When most people think of newborn portraits, they imagine those first two weeks of life when babies are still sleepy and curly, easily tucking into those classic newborn poses. And while that window is ideal, life doesn’t always go according to plan. Sometimes, birth brings unexpected challenges—like a NICU stay—that shift the timing but not the beauty of capturing those first months of life.
That was the case for this sweet family who came into my Highlands Ranch home studio with their 7-week-old baby boy.

That was the case for this sweet family who came into my Highlands Ranch home studio with their 7-week-old baby boy.
A NICU Journey and the Gift of Resilience
This little one’s arrival didn’t go as planned. After a healthy pregnancy, unexpected birth complications led to a stay in the NICU—a reality no parent ever anticipates. As someone who also endured an unexpected NICU stay with my own child (11 long days that felt like forever), I deeply understood the emotions they were carrying: relief that their baby was safe, exhaustion from the ordeal, and the lingering heartache of an experience that was so different from what they had envisioned.
It’s a unique kind of trauma—one that leaves parents feeling both grateful and tender, with an even deeper appreciation for the miracle of holding their baby at home.
Welcoming Baby Into the Studio at 7 Weeks
By the time they were able to come in for their newborn session, their little boy was 7 weeks old. And let me tell you—he was absolutely precious. While babies at this stage aren’t quite as curly or sleepy as brand-new newborns, they bring something equally magical: bright eyes, sweet expressions, and an undeniable presence that shows just how much they’ve already grown.
We captured a beautiful blend of portraits, including:
Tender moments of mom and dad holding their baby close, overflowing with love
Cozy swaddled images that gave a nod to traditional newborn portraits
Awake shots where his eyes shone brightly, full of curiosity and life
These portraits reflect not just the baby stage, but also the incredible journey this family has walked to arrive here—together, stronger, and more connected than ever.
Why Newborn Sessions Matter—No Matter the Timing
While I often recommend scheduling newborn portraits within the first 2–3 weeks, sessions at 5–8 weeks can be just as special. The images may look a little different—fewer curly newborn poses, more personality-filled moments—but they still capture the tender, fleeting season of early parenthood.
For families who experience NICU stays, birth trauma, or other delays, please know: it’s never too late to capture your baby’s story. Every image is a piece of your journey, and those memories deserve to be honored.
A Personal Note
Having walked through a NICU stay myself, I hold an especially soft place in my heart for parents navigating this path. I know the weight of those hospital days, the ache of seeing your baby hooked up to wires and monitors, and the indescribable joy of finally bringing them home. Photographing families who have shared this experience is deeply meaningful to me—it’s more than a portrait session, it’s a celebration of resilience, healing, and love.

Senior portraits are meant to capture more than just a milestone—they’re about personality, style, and celebrating who you are in this moment. My client, a beautiful young woman with bright pink hair and an incredible sense of individuality, lit up every image against the bold, colorful graffiti walls of the city.
Celebrating Personality Through Color
From the moment she arrived, I knew this session would be unforgettable. Her vibrant pink hair wasn’t just a style choice—it was an expression of her creativity, confidence, and willingness to stand out. Pair that with the dynamic graffiti backdrops of downtown Denver, and the result was a gallery full of portraits that were as bold and unique as she is.
Each wall brought a new layer of personality to the images—splashes of color, intricate patterns, and gritty urban textures that contrasted beautifully with her playful confidence and natural beauty.
The Energy of Downtown Denver
Downtown Denver offers such an eclectic mix of locations for senior photography—modern architecture, hidden alleyways, industrial edges, and of course, vibrant street art. Photographing seniors in this setting feels less like a formal portrait session and more like an adventure through the city.
For this session, we leaned into the energy of the area. Bright colors, big laughter, and lots of movement made every image feel alive and authentic. She twirled, leaned into the walls, and owned every pose with a mix of strength and fun that was a joy to capture.
Why Senior Portraits Matter
Senior year is such a defining chapter. It’s a time of transition—looking back at all you’ve accomplished and forward to everything that’s about to begin. Senior portraits are about freezing this moment, celebrating individuality, and creating a visual story you’ll carry with you long after graduation.
This session with a young woman unafraid to express herself through bold choices—whether in hair color, wardrobe, or attitude—reminded me why I love this work so much. Portraits aren’t just pictures; they’re reflections of who you are right now.

A Studio Maternity Session with Family Close to My Heart
There are some sessions that feel extra special, and this one truly touched me. Growing up, my cousin and I never lived close. Life had us in different places, and our paths didn’t cross often. But now, we’re only twenty minutes apart—and for the first time, I had the joy of meeting his beautiful wife and their two darling girls, ages four and two
There are some sessions that feel extra special, and this one truly touched me. Growing up, my cousin and I never lived close. Life had us in different places, and our paths didn’t cross often. But now, we’re only twenty minutes apart—and for the first time, I had the joy of meeting his beautiful wife and their two darling girls, ages four and two.
Not only was it wonderful finally getting to know them, but I had the absolute honor of photographing such a meaningful milestone in their lives: the anticipation of welcoming a new baby into their family.
In the studio, the energy was soft and joyful. Their little girls filled the space with giggles and curiosity, while Mom glowed in her elegant, neutral-toned gown—radiant and graceful. Dad’s quiet admiration was written all over his face, and the way he looked at her during our time together made capturing their love so natural.
One of my favorite moments from the session was the intimate portraits of just the two of them—Mom resting her hands gently over her baby bump while Dad sat close, his hand lovingly placed on hers. There was such tenderness in the way they connected, as if the rest of the world melted away and all that mattered was this season of waiting and excitement.
The girls, of course, brought their own sparkle to the portraits—playful hugs, spontaneous snuggles, and those authentic little bursts of laughter that only young children can bring. Their love for their soon-to-arrive sibling was already so apparent.
For me, this session wasn’t just about photographs. It was about connection—bridging the distance of years apart and finally being able to step into this chapter of my cousin’s life. To celebrate his growing family and to preserve these fleeting, beautiful moments for them was such a gift.
I left the studio that day with a full heart, grateful for family, for the closeness that time and distance can’t diminish, and for the privilege of turning their love into timeless keepsakes.

This recent session was such a joy—a young family with their brand-new baby girl and her 13-month-old big sister, who stole the show in the most delightful way.
A Studio Filled with Giggles (and Hugs!)
When the family arrived, I was immediately greeted by their older daughter, who at just 13 months, was already full of personality. She wasn’t particularly interested in her brand-new baby sister—but she was very interested in me and in exploring every corner of the studio. Between running around, playing with props, and offering me hug after hug, she kept us all laughing throughout the session.
And that’s what I love about studio newborn photography—it’s not just about perfectly posed portraits (though we captured plenty of those, too). It’s about letting children be themselves, celebrating their personalities, and capturing authentic family moments in the process.
Timeless Newborn Portraits
While big sister explored, Mom and Dad took turns with their sweet newborn. We created soft, natural portraits that highlighted her tiny details—curled fingers, peaceful expressions, and the way she melted so easily into her parents’ arms. The studio light wrapped her in a gentle glow, making each image feel timeless and serene.
We also captured family portraits—images that bring together the love, energy, and connection that make this season so special. Even though big sister wasn’t too interested in holding her baby sister just yet, her playful spirit added so much joy to the story of this session. Years from now, these portraits will be a reminder not only of their newborn’s earliest days, but also of the spirited little girl who had just become a big sister.
Why Choose a Studio Newborn Session?
My Highlands Ranch studio is designed to be a cozy, welcoming space for families.
