Newborn Portraits in Highlands Ranch | A Family of Seven Children

Every newborn session is special, but when a new baby arrives in a family of seven children, the love and excitement in the room is multiplied in the most beautiful way. Recently, I had the joy of welcoming this incredible family into my Highlands Ranch home studio for their newborn session. With six older siblings eager to celebrate their new brother or sister, the energy was both lively and heartwarming.

Every newborn session is special, but when a new baby arrives in a family of seven children, the love and excitement in the room is multiplied in the most beautiful way. Recently, I had the joy of welcoming this incredible family into my Highlands Ranch home studio for their newborn session. With six older siblings eager to celebrate their new brother or sister, the energy was tender and heartwarming. This was the first time the family had ever had newborn portraits taken, so it was extra special.

A Full House of Love

There’s something magical about photographing a large family. The dynamics, the laughter, the curiosity of the younger kids, and the tenderness of the older ones—it all weaves together into portraits that are layered with meaning. This family was no exception. Each child brought their own personality into the session, making it a true celebration of love, joy, and togetherness.

The older siblings were so sweet and protective, while the little ones were fascinated by their brand-new sibling. Watching them gather close for portraits, you could feel how cherished this new baby already is.

In the Studio

My home studio in Highlands Ranch was the perfect space for this busy session. We captured a mix of images, including:

  • Sweet swaddled portraits of the newborn alone

  • Group shots of all seven siblings together (a rare and treasured image for mom and dad!)

  • Tender family portraits with everyone snuggled in close

Why Newborn Portraits Matter for Large Families

For parents of big families, a newborn session is more than just about the baby—it’s about honoring the whole family as it grows and shifts with each new arrival. These portraits become part of the family’s legacy, capturing not just how the children look in this season, but also the unique way they interact with and love one another.

A Session to Remember

This newborn session was such a joyful reminder of how much beauty exists in the chaos of a big family. Seven children may mean extra giggles, wiggles, and a little unpredictability, but it also means seven times the love, seven times the laughter, and seven times the memories captured.

Family Portraits at Daniel’s Park | Highlands Ranch, CO Sunset Session

Daniel’s Park is such a beautiful place for sunset family portraits near Highlands Ranch—grassy hills, wide open skies, and those breathtaking views of the Front Range. We scheduled the session for golden hour, and the light did not disappoint.

Some moments feel like the closing of one chapter and the opening of another, and this family portrait session at Daniel’s Park was exactly that kind of bittersweet beauty.

Mom and Dad arrived with their two sons—a family that has spent years building memories together in Colorado. The oldest is already off at college, navigating the next steps of life, and the younger is just about to begin his own college adventure. It’s a time of change, pride, and deep love… and the perfect moment to capture their bond before the next big chapter begins.

A Perfect Evening at Daniel’s Park

Daniel’s Park is such a beautiful place for sunset family portraits near Highlands Ranch—grassy hills, wide open skies, and those breathtaking views of the Front Range. We scheduled the session for golden hour, and the light did not disappoint. As the sun dipped lower, it bathed the landscape in a warm, honeyed glow, wrapping the family in light that seemed to echo the love they share.

More Than Just Photographs

For Mom and Dad, this session was more than just updated family photos—it was a chance to pause, breathe in this moment, and hold onto it before both boys head out into the world.

We talked about how quickly the years have passed. Sometimes in the midst of the chaos of raising kids, we don’t realize how fast time is flying by. That’s why it’s so important to document these transitions. These portraits are a reminder that while life changes, the love at the center of it all stays strong.

Radiant at Golden Hour | A Highlands Ranch Senior Portrait Session

There’s something magical about photographing seniors at sunset—and this session in Highlands Ranch, CO was no exception. Just before the sun dipped below the horizon, I had the absolute joy of photographing a stunning redheaded high school senior whose natural beauty and quiet confidence lit up the frame.

Set against the historic mansion, soft summer breezes, and the warm glow of golden hour, this senior portrait session was filled with effortless elegance, laughter, and light.

Golden Hour: The Perfect Time for Senior Portraits

If you've ever wondered when the best time is to take senior portraits outdoors, the answer is always just before sunset. Known as the “golden hour,” this time of day gives everything a warm, natural glow—and it’s especially flattering for portraits.

During this session, the light was absolutely dreamy. It softened every feature, brought out the rich copper tones in her hair, and added a natural radiance to every image. It was the kind of light that photographers chase, and she wore it like a crown.

Personal Style Meets Natural Beauty

This senior came to her session with a relaxed confidence and a classic sense of style that fit the Highlands Ranch setting perfectly. She chose soft, neutral-toned outfits that complemented her red hair and the sunlit landscape—think flowy fabrics, warm earth tones, and a touch of vintage charm.

We moved around the historic mansion and the perfectly manicured gardens—each location offering something unique. Whether she was sitting on the steps, laying in the grass, or leaning into a quiet moment of reflection, every shot told a story of a young woman on the edge of something amazing.

A Full-Service Experience for Seniors in Highlands Ranch

This session was part of my full-service senior portrait experience, which means every detail—from wardrobe to lighting to location—was planned with care.

Let Kids Be Kids | Littleton Family Photographer

When it comes to photographing kids, it's important to remember that they are their own unique individuals with their own personalities, interests, and quirks! In order to capture authentic and meaningful photos, it's crucial to let them be themselves during the photo session.

Photo of toddler girl wearing lace and ruffle dress and staring at the camera while mother giggles in the background.

When kids feel free to be who they are, they're going to be more comfortable and relaxed, and this will shine through in the photographs! This means letting them express themselves in their own way, whether that means being silly, playful, or even a little shy.

By allowing kids to be themselves, you'll not only get more genuine and natural photos, but you'll also be able to capture their true character and spirit.

Photo of toddler girl sitting in a peacock chair with a giant smile.

These are the photos that you'll cherish for years to come, as they truly represent who your child is, right now, and the special moments you share together.

I’m a huge believer in negotiating with toddlers (and older kids too). Remember, a little bargaining with the kiddos can go a long way! :)

The art of storytelling through photography | Littleton Family Photographer

When I first started my photography journey I photographed a lot of posed photos, and although they were beautiful, there was something missing. The moment that all changed for me is when I was photographing a family and the youngest girl started twirling around and I caught the image perfectly. I threw it in the gallery so mom could see it but I didn’t think she would choose it. WELP… not only did she choose it as one of her favorites she blew it up as a HUGE portrait and hung it on her wall.

Photo of a young girl wearing a white dress and twirling in a field at sunset, with a giant smile.

She then explained that her daughter was always on the move, nicknamed “happy feet” because she never stayed still. It summed the young girl up in that one portrait and the joy it brought to her mother was incredible. I then realized I was onto something, I didn’t need to capture life perfectly…I needed to capture life!

Family photography is not just about taking posed photos of family members smiling at the camera. It is about telling the unique story and personality of a family through photographs. These photos can tell a story that words could never express.

When my clients look back at their photographs, they are able to see the story of their family unfold. It magically brings them right back to those joyful moments.

Are you ready to protect your legacy through portraits?

Why invest in a professional photographer? | Littleton Family Photographer

Let’s agree that technology has come very far, very fast. It is crazy to think that the iPhone first came out in 2007 with a 2 megapixel camera and now the iPhone 14 now has a 48mp camera. WOAH!!!

But the problem here is… even with cameras advancing, both professional cameras and phone cameras… you will still be stuck behind the camera.

By hiring a professional photographer you are allowing yourself to get in front of the camera with your loved ones and capture gorgeous memories. Could you set up a tripod? Sure… you could but will the end results be incredible? Most likely no, and that is because you are missing that human touch…Even with the advanced focusing technology of newer cameras, you can’t easily zoom in or out or get creative angles when your camera is on a tripod. Plus, all the hassle of getting everything set up right on a tripod takes away from your time in front of the camera and your ability to connect with your family while the photos are being taken.

Photo of a mother and daughter, both wearing white dresses, hugging outside in the grassy foothills of Boise, Idaho.

Also, you could have the top-of-the-line camera gear but if you aren’t fully educated and don’t know how to control the detailed settings, your photos simply won’t be as JAW-DROPPING as you want them to be.

Photo of two blonde sisters, dressed in white and yellow, holding hands and smiling in the grassy foothills of Boise, Idaho.

I have poured myself into photography, including my equipment and education. I know my camera settings, I know how to manipulate light and I know how to provide an incredible experience.

I would love to document your family and create the most gorgeous memories for you to cherish for a lifetime. If you’re interested, please contact me!
