Every so often, a portrait session transforms the studio in ways I never could have imagined. Recently, I had the absolute joy of welcoming a sound healing practitioner into my studio for a day of soul-aligned branding portraits, and the experience was nothing short of magical.

What is normally a quiet portrait space was completely transformed into a sacred sound healing sanctuary—filled with instruments, resonance, and an atmosphere of deep presence.

A Studio Filled with Sacred Sound

When she arrived, she brought with her an incredible collection of instruments used in her sound healing practice: crystal singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, a monochord, chimes, tuning forks, and Native American flutes. Each instrument carries its own tone, vibration, and purpose within the healing experience she creates for her clients.

As we began setting up the space, the studio slowly shifted from a photography environment into something much more ceremonial. The instruments were arranged thoughtfully around her, creating a visual and energetic landscape that reflected the work she does.

Watching the room come alive in this way was so inspiring. It felt less like preparing for a photoshoot and more like preparing for a sacred gathering.

Capturing the Essence of Sound Healing

Our goal for the session was to create branding portraits that truly reflect the heart of her work. Sound healing is such a deeply experiential practice—one that works with vibration, frequency, and presence—so we wanted the images to feel peaceful, grounded, and immersive.

We photographed her surrounded by her instruments, gently playing bowls and chimes, holding tuning forks, and sitting within the circle of sound tools she uses in her sessions. These portraits tell the story of what someone might experience when they enter her healing space.

The light in the studio paired beautifully with the shimmering surfaces of the bowls and the natural textures of the instruments. Each image carries a sense of calm and reverence that mirrors the healing work she offers.

When Photography Becomes Collaboration

One of the things I love most about sessions like this is the collaboration. When someone brings their gifts and tools into the studio, it allows us to design portraits that are deeply aligned with their purpose.

Rather than creating generic branding images, we focused on telling her story—capturing the visual language of her practice and the energy she brings to her clients.

And honestly, it was just so much fun to witness my studio space transformed for a day. Seeing crystal bowls, gongs, and flutes filling the room created such a beautiful and unexpected environment.
